The good people at Jameson will be evoking the spirit of the 1920s with a pop-up cinematic speakeasy called the Jameson Apartment this month. Accessed via a secret door on Greek Street in London’s Soho, just off Leicester Square, the Jameson Apartment opens to the public on Wednesday 12 October for the duration of the 55th BFI London Film Festival. One of the films showing at the Apartment is Ralph Fiennes directorial debut Coriolanus (2011) and would you believe it, we have a lovely pair of tickets to giveaway.
Fiennes’ debut is an impressive, muscular version of Shakespeare’s sometimes overlooked play about power and political pragmatism. The setting – a place calling itself ‘Rome’ – is a recognisably modern Balkan war-zone, and writer John Logan skilfully adapts the Bard’s words for more contemporary phrasing. The director himself takes the lead role of Coriolanus, the war hero turned politician whose abrasive and autocratic personality does not endear him to the masses whose support he needs to become consul of Rome. The film also stars Gerard Butler, Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave.
In order to be in with a chance of winning the tickets, all you have to do is answer the following question:
What is the name of the new David Cronenberg film showing at the BFI London Film Festival this month?
a) Dangerous Minds
b) Dangerous Liaisons
c) A Dangerous Method
To enter, simply fill out the contact form below with your name, email address, subject (‘Coriolanus’), answer and postal address in the comment box provided.*
