One of the standout British films of last year (despite its BAFTA snub), Andrew Haigh’s Weekend (2011) finally comes to DVD and Blu-ray courtesy of Peccadillo Pictures on Monday 19 March. To celebrate, we have THREE DVD copies of the films to give away to our faithful, independent cinema-supporting fans. This is an exclusive competition for our Facebook fans, so if you haven’t already, head over to facebook.com/CineVueUK, ‘Like’ us, and then follow the instructions below.
Weekend was released in UK cinemas back in November 2011 to rave reviews and quickly became a box office hit. Written and directed by Haigh, the film stars Tom Cullen and Chris New and is produced by Tristan Goligher. On a Friday night after hanging out with his straight mates, Russell (Cullen) heads out to a nightclub, alone and on the pull. Just before closing time he picks up Glen (New). Over the next 48 hours, Russell and Glen become inseparable, gradually forming a tight bond that neither of them could have predicted – one that may change their lives forever. Weekend depicts an unconventional love story with a raw, edifying honesty, making Haigh a refreshing new voice in British cinema.
To be in with a chance of winning one of THREE DVD copies of Weekend, just answer the following simple question.
What was the title of Weekend director Andrew Haigh’s previous film, released in 2009?
a) Greek Pete
b) Meek Pete
c) Sneaky Pete
