Competition: Win Iraq drama ‘The Somnambulists’ on DVD *closed*

In our second competition of the day, and to commemorate the DVD release of Scottish director Richard Jobson’s Iraq War drama The Somnambulists (2012) – featuring Skins star Jack O’Connell, Steven Robertson, Jonathan Kerrigan and Michael Nardone – on 30 April, we have THREE copies of the film to give away to you know who. This is an exclusive competition for our Facebook fans, so if you haven’t already, head over to, ‘Like’ us, and then follow the instructions below.

The Somnambulists revolves around 15 testimonies from British servicemen and women who were involved in the Iraq conflict in Basra. The film uses a cast of relatively unknown actors and is an imagined response to real-life eye-witness accounts from commanding officers, bomb disposal experts and medics. We get insights into their camaraderie as well as their fears, their sense of loss and vulnerability, creating a ghostly presence as they talk about these experiences in a near documentary style and after each testimony the camera glides into the lives that might have been and the people they left behind.

To be in with a chance of winning one of THREE DVD copies of The Somnambulists, just answer the following simple question.

The second Iraq War, also known as the Second Gulf War, began in which year?

a) 2001
b) 2002
c) 2003

To enter, simply fill out the contact form below with your name, email address, subject (‘Iraq’), answer and postal address in the comment box provided.*
