Len Wiseman’s 2012 remake may be just on the horizon, but next week Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi classic Total Recall (1990) – starring Arnold Schwarzenegger – receives a long-awaited home entertainment rerelease courtesy of StudioCanal. To celebrate the release of Total Recall: Ultimate Rekall Edition on Triple Play, we have THREE copies of the film to give away to our readers. This is an exclusive competition for our Facebook and Twitter fans, so if you haven’t already, ‘Like’ us at facebook.com/CineVueUK or follow us @CineVue before answering the question below.
The year is 2084 and the world has survived the Third World War. Two opposing government blocs rule the world. Even Mars has been colonised and is wracked by political unrest. On Earth construction worker Douglas Quaid (Schwarzenegger), a man with a beautiful wife, a good job and great friends, is constantly dreaming of Mars, of another life there – and a mysterious woman. His wife Lori (Sharon Stone) worries he’s becoming obsessed with the war torn planet and deters Quaid from taking an actual trip to the colony there, so he settles for the next best thing – a ‘virtual vacation’.
Mega conglomerate Rekall has the technology to implant the memory of any holiday a customer desires, guaranteed to seem as real as the real thing. Quaid chooses the upgrade package – the opportunity to ‘go’ with a whole new identity, choosing that of a secret agent. But during the implant procedure something goes very wrong. A whole new personality that had been blocked from his mind violently awakes. His everyday world crumbles around him, a world in which everything – and everyone – he thinks he knows and experienced may be a fabrication.
To be in with a chance of winning one of THREE Triple Play copies of Total Recall: Ultimate Rekall Edition, all you have to do is answer this simple question:
In Total Recall, what does Quaid/Hauser suggest that he has been feeding his ‘member’?
c) Bran Flakes
