Competition: Win ‘The Past’ *closed*

Directed by Academy Award winner Asghar Farhadi (About Elly, A Separation) and featuring a quite unforgettable central performance from Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) that earned her the Best Actress award at Cannes 2013, The Past (2013) is an engrossing, tight-knit family drama as gripping as any thriller. To celebrate the home entertainment release of Farhadi’s latest morally complex familial drama, we have THREE DVD copies of The Past to give away to our world cinema savvy readership, courtesy of the always accommodating team at the film’s distributors Artificial Eye. This is an exclusive competition for our Facebook and Twitter fans, so if you haven’t already, ‘Like’ us at or follow us @CineVue before answering the question below.

Following a four-year separation, Ahmad (Ali Mosaffa) returns to Paris from Tehran upon his French wife Marie’s (Bejo) request in order to finalise their divorce procedure. During his stay, Ahmad quickly discovers the conflicting nature of Marie’s relationship with her daughter, Lucie (Pauline Burlet). However, Ahmad’s attempts to build bridges between the two soon begin to encroach on Marie’s new partner, Samir (A Prophet’s Tahar Rahim), and as tensions begin to mount it soon becomes clear that the past is only close behind.

To be in with a chance of winning one of THREE copies of Asghar Farhadi’s The Past on DVD, just answer the following simple question:

The Past star Bérénice Bejo is married to which Oscar-winning director?

a) Alfonso Cuarón
b) Michel Hazanavicius
