Arrow Video are pleased to announce the release of Bound, the 1996 neo-noir and debut directorial feature from the Wachowski siblings Andy and Lana, on DVD and Blu-ray for the very first time on 18 August. Opening in late ’96 in the USA and early 1997 in the UK, Bound looks even more striking today than it did on first release, when it was far from being the only inventive low-budget crime flick doing the rounds. To celebrate this rediscovery, we have THREE Dual Format copies of the film to give away, courtesy of those cult movie champions at Arrow Video. This is an exclusive competition for our Facebook and Twitter fans, so if you haven’t already, ‘Like’ us at facebook.com/CineVueUK or follow us @CineVue before answering the question below.
Gina Gershon plays Corky, a woman recently released from a five-year jail term for, as she puts it, the “redistribution of wealth”. After a brief lift encounter with her sexy and sultry neighbour Violet (Jennifer Tilly), the pair strike up a steamy love affair under the nose of Violet’s unhinged Mafia boyfriend Caesar (Joe Pantoliano). The two women are soon hatching a plan to steal $2 million from Caesar and his associates – but if you’re going to mess with the mob, you’d better be sure you do it right. Well-received upon its initial release, Bound is by turns shocking and funny – with plenty of lesbian sex scenes thrown in for good measure – and proves to be an astoundingly assured debut which oozes style and sensuality.
