Damien Chazelle’s La La Land was ousted by Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight right at the death last night as the latter claimed Best Picture in controversial circumstances due to an error on the cards. Chazelle has previously won Best Director, adding to the film’s wins in the Best Song and Best Score categories, as well as Emma Stone for Best Actress. Casey Affleck defeated Denzel Washington in the Best Actor race for his turn in Manchester By the Sea, while Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for Fences. Elsewhere, Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Moonlight and Zootopia won Best Animated Feature.
