This weekend Sky Movies Comedy/HD celebrates the 50th birthday of one of Britain’s best-loved comedians – Ricky Gervais – with a triple bill of his films on Saturday 25th June. Like him or loathe him, he played an important role in bringing about a new era of comedy in the noughties and has since infiltrated popular culture in a massive way.
Gervais has co-written and appeared in the The Office and in Extras, co-produced The US Office featuring Steve Carell, toured extensively as a stand-up comedian, and has been given lead roles in big-budget Hollywood movies like Ghost Town (2008) and The Invention of Lying (2009).
Each film aired on Saturday night will be accompanied by a replay of his appearance on Alex Zane’s Guest List and his ‘Face 2 Face’ interview with fellow comedian and friend Stephen Merchant.
