Berlin 2012: ‘Caesar Must Die’ wins Golden Bear

Earlier on this evening, the 62nd Berlin Film Festival announced its final award winners following yet another hugely successful festival programme, which now reaches its finale. This year’s handpicked Special Jury consisted of British director Mike Leigh (President), filmmaker and photographer Anton Corbijn, Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and actor Jake Gyllenhaal (plus François Ozon, Boualem Sansal and Barbara Sukowa), who awarded the following prizes, including the coveted Golden Bear award to Paolo & Vittorio Taviani’s Cesare deve morire (Caesar Must Die): and the Silver Bear to German director Christian Petzold, who picked up the honour for his tense drama Barbara.
