Oscars 2013: Spend Oscar night at Roxy Bar & Screen

Looking for somewhere to watch this year’s star-studded 85th Academy Awards ceremony in comfort, but don’t fancy watching it at home on your lonesome? Then why not ready your swankiest evening wear and join the CineVue team at London’s Roxy Bar & Screen (a stone’s throw from both Borough and London Bridge stations) for their Oscar night extravaganza on Sunday 24 February. The Roxy will be celebrating this year’s awards in style with a glamorous red carpet entrance, a free glass of Prosecco on arrival for each and every guest (cash bar thereafter), free popcorn all night and, of course, live coverage of the Oscar ceremony, right up until the bitter end – unless you feel like doing an ‘Eddie Redmayne’, that is.

Host for the evening Seth MacFarlane (of Family Guy fame) will reside over proceedings live in Los Angeles, with coverage starting at the Roxy from 11:30pm through to the end (doors open at 11pm, strictly no admittance after midnight). The bar will be open all night, whilst the £10 fee for tickets covers a complementary glass of Prosecco, the aforementioned popcorn, plus entry to two competitions – the first eligible to all those who arrive wearing their finest evening attire.

The second competition on the night will be for those who’d like to try their luck picking the winners of the main four categories – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress – so check out the nominations here (prizes to be won include bottles of Perrier Jouet Champagne, Roxy membership and more). Stephen Spielberg’s presidential biopic Lincoln leads the way with 12 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, with Ang Lee’s Life of Pi (11), Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables (8) and David O’ Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook (8) also fairing well.
