Whether you’re an adventurer who likes to conquer the wilderness or you prefer to scale skyscrapers in big cities, there’s a destination for you. In fact, it’s likely to have been captured on the big screen. We’ve rounded up the best films that make us want to travel.

Before Sunrise
The entire Before trilogy is worth watching, but we must put the first one on this list as it’s the one who started it all. Before Sunrise is an iconic 90s movie about a young man who falls in love with a woman…The catch is that meets her on a train journey in Europe. This film reflects the shortness of travel relationships, but also the deep meaning they can have. Besides, it also teaches you a lot about “travel time” and how days can feel like months when you’re loving a place and someone deeply. After all, who wouldn’t want to feel romance in Vienna, Austria?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Who could forget that iconic scene where Holly pulls up outside the iconic Tiffany & Co. store in New York, a pastry in one hand and oversized statement sunnies? We instantly see the recognisable yellow taxis and a long street of impressive buildings, and it’s only a second before we know we’re in the Big Apple. It’s sparked a love affair with the American city for many, and definitely makes you want to pay the well known store a visit.

Into the Wild
If you’re a backpacker, this film will get you in the feels. We cannot talk about five movies that will make you want to travel if we don’t mention Into the Wild. This movie follows Christopher McCandless as he tries to get rid of his material life to get in touch with nature. Christopher takes a road trip through the USA before ending up in Alaska, the most isolated state in the country (OK, let’s say aside from Hawaii). You’ll feel in touch with fascinating landscapes by watching this film, and you can be sure that the dialogue will lead you to reflect on life.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
For those who love to daydream, Walter Mitty is the film for you, with Ben Stiller’s daydreams taking him to the stunning landscape of Iceland. Many of the iconic scenes were filmed at real Icelandic landmarks such as the impressive Vatnajökull glacier or the beautiful fjord of Seyðisfjörður. The movie makes us want to catch a plane, hire a car and explore this stunning country and all of the breathtaking natural beauty it has to offer.

The Talented Mr. Ripley
This movie is one of those lust-worthy types featuring beautiful people in beautiful locations doing beautiful things – well, except for Matt Damon of course. Set on the Amalfi coast, we’ve all wanted to sit back and relax on a boat on the azure water for the day after watching this movie. Who fancies eating breakfast on a terrace in the morning sunshine overlooking the sea?

This is the end of the list we created based on five movies that will make you want to travel, but it is not the end of your plans.
